SIOUX CITY, Iowa - (Box Score) Shawnee State (Ohio) raced out to the early lead and never looked back, as the Bears defeated Grand View (Iowa) 75-55 in quarterfinal action Saturday at the 19th Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena.

The Bears will put their 28-6 record on the line against the winner of the Indiana Wesleyan/College of the Ozarks (Mo.) matchup on Monday at 6 p.m.

Grand View's run at the national championship comes to a close, with the Vikings finishing with a record of 27-9. Head coach Garey Smith's team had its best showing in four trips with its showing in the quarterfinals.

In its 15th national championship appearance, Shawnee State will return to the semifinals for just the third time. The last time that the Bears won their way into the semifinals was in 1999 en route to winning the program's first and only national crown. Twenty-year veteran head coach Robin Hagen-Smith also guided Shawnee State to the semis in 1995.

Shawnee State led from start to finish, reaching a double-figure advantage on a second-chance bucket by Catrice Mitchell at the 6:30 mark in the first half. With the opening half coming to a close, Shawnee State held a 40-26 lead thanks to hitting 13-of-30 shots good for 43.3 percent. Alison Meyer tallied 15 of her 24 total points in opening 20 minutes. Grand View shot just 32.1 percent and was ice cold from the 3-point line, missing all six tries.

The Bears maintained their dominating play in the second half and pushed their lead to as many as 21 points, courtesy of an Abby Ballman jumper with 4:21 remaining in the game.

Shawnee State had consistent shooting in all facets of its game, hitting 13-of-30 field goal attempts, 11-of-22 tries from the 3-point line and converted 14-of-21 shots from the charity stripe. Both Mallory Albers and Meyer posted 20-or more points the win. Meyer connected on 6-of-11 field goal attempts, including three from downtown. She also picked up nine points at the free-throw line. Albers scored 21 points (9-of-17) and had a game high five steals.

Grand View's scoring efforts were led by a pair of veterans and a rookie. Freshman Jennifer Jorgensen registered 16 points, while Jamie Sickles and Bailey Schechinger's careers each came to a close on 10-point outings. The Vikings finished the game 18-of-52 from the floor (.346) and a mere 3-of-11 from long range.
