POINT LOOKOUT, Mo.(Box Score) -D.J. Baisden scored a game-high 18 points, the final two off a lay-up with 23 seconds left, to give Spring Arbor (Mich.) a 58-57 upset win over #12 Northwood (Fla.) in the first game of day two at the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament. The 2010 event is being held at the Keeter Gymnasium on the campus of College of the Ozarks (Mo.).

Down one with under a minute to go, Baisden cut down the right side of the lane and put the game-winner high off the glass, just out of the reach of a Northwood defender, to go up one with 23 seconds left. The Seahawks missed a potential game-winning three-pointer with four seconds left but got the ball back after Spring Arbor knocked the rebound out of bounds. After a timeout, Northwood missed on its final game-winning attempt as Lester Hunte's baseline jumper fell off the rim to put Spring Arbor into the second round for only its second time in the program's history.

Northwood had control early on as they opened up an early 15-7 lead. A three-pointer by senior guard Jay Duncan, his third of the half, gave the Seahawks its largest lead (26-16) with six minutes to go in the first half. Spring Arbor closed to within two (29-27) after a three-pointer by Richard Blair but Northwood outscored the Cougars 7-1 and held a 36-28 lead at intermission.

With Northwood up 12 at the 11 minute mark, Spring Arbor began its comeback when Chris Bellamy scored five consecutive points to cap off an 8-0 run to put the score at 49-45. The Cougars defense keyed the comeback, holding Northwood to only one field goal over nearly seven minutes. A pair of free throws by Willie Pickvet gave Spring Arbor its first lead, and after a basket by Northwood, Pickvet hit a three-pointer which put the Cougars up 55-53 with three minutes to play. Four straight points by the Seahawks, the final basket on a jumper by Hunte with 1:40 left, gave the lead back to Northwood for the final time. Baisden closed the game with a free throw and then hit the game-winner.

Spring Arbor shot 50% for the game and controlled the boards 27-23. Baisden netted a game-high 18 points on 7-of-11 from the floor. Chris Bellamy scored 14 for the Cougars and Rob Boss added 12.

Northwood shot 45% for the game but struggled to find the bottom of the net in the second half, shooting 33%. Jay Duncan led the Seahawks with 15 points but was held to just two in the second half. Lester Hunte chipped in 13 while Patrick Horstmann added eight points and 14 rebounds. Northwood ends the season with a 27-7 record.
