SIOUX CITY, Iowa - (Box Score) Behind senior Josleyn Narber's 23 points and 11 rebounds, Aquinas (Mich.) took a 67-65 overtime win over Saint Francis (Ind.) Wednesday at the 19th Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena.

Aquinas improves its record to 21-11 and will face Shawnee State ( Ohio ) in second-round action on Friday at 8:30 a.m. The loss for Saint Francis is only the second time in 12 previous trips to the championship event that the Cougars have suffered defeat in the first round. Saint Francis finishes the season with a 23-11 mark.

The game featured 10 ties, including a 32-32 deadlock at halftime. Down by two with 42 seconds left on the clock in the second half, Saint Francis' Julie Seiss buried a 3-point bucket to put the Cougars up by one, 56-55. Bessie Jenkins, the backbone of the Saint Francis team, missed the first half of a one-and-one, but converted the second for a 57-55 lead with just eight ticks remaining. With double zeros approaching, Aquinas' Taelor Sanders drove the lane and hit the layup as time expired to tie the game at 57-57.

Naber's play was clutch in the five-minute overtime session, scoring seven points on four free throws and a trey.

Ann Marie Shumaker finished with 10 points for the Saints and Sanders pulled down 10 boards.

Saint Francis had a trio of players finish in double figures, led by Kayla Mullins with 18 points, 10 of which came from the free-throw line. Seiss scored 14 and Stacia Sheperd posted 13 points and Chanell Ridley grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
